Novice Training Programs
This program is ideally suited to those who are attempting their first race and have little or no experience in running.
Novices can attempt any distance they wish regardless of whether they have raced shorter distances prior to that. i.e. you do not necessarily have to have raced a 1/2 marathon before attempting a full marathon; however, you would require a longer time to train for it and enable yourself to cross the finish line.
If you diligently do the proper training and the put in the appropriate time length to prep for your chosen race, chances are you have a good shot a crossing the finish line. I know people who finished an Ironman (226km swim, bike, run in one race and one day) without having even done a sprint (the shortest triathlon distance) neither as a race nor in practice.
